Re-branded, renovated Old Greenwich ice cream shop to reopen: Rosie’s Frozen Yogurt becomes Cups N’ Cones

A number of new businesses have opened along the avenue — including a butcher’s shop, a book store, a gallery and a personalized fitness business — or had new owners taking over existing retail operations.

Anna Buzik is the latest entrant in the field. She took over the old Rosie’s Frozen Yogurt shop, after the previous owner re-located, last spring. Buzik has now carried out an extensive renovation and re-branding of the frozen-treat shop, and she plans to re-open March 26 as Cups N’ Cones.

Buzik has a career in finance, but changed her priorities and embarked on becoming a small-business entrepreneur.

“After COVID, I realized family is what matters,” she said about re-prioritizing her career plans.

A Greenwich family shared books during the pandemic. Now they are opening an independent bookstore.

GREENWICH — It’s a whole new chapter for book lovers in Old Greenwich as an independent bookstore prepares to open.

Riverside residents Jennifer Bird and Odysseas Kostas are targeting Dec. 10 for the opening of Athena Books at 228 Sound Beach Ave. — a visible spot next to the Beach House in Old Greenwich’s main business district.

The couple said they were inspired to go into the book-selling business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have 6- and 8-year-old daughters, and during the pandemic, we would get hundreds of books from the library. We did a ton of reading with the girls, and when we went on little road trips to Airbnbs, one of our favorite activities was going to bookstores,” Bird said. “There were very few things we could do, so we bought the girls books, and that would take up a whole afternoon.”

On one of those trips, Bird said she suggested the idea of opening a bookstore. And what might have been an idle notion that got a quick laugh instead was taken very seriously. READ MORE…

Old Greenwich, Conn.: A Front-Porch Kind of Place
