Description: With an ever growing membership of painters, digital artists, sculptors and photographers, the Art Society of Old Greenwich is one of the oldest in Connecticut. It was founded in 1927 by Robert Wesley Amick, a noted illustrator working in New York City, who retired in the Greenwich area. Known for western landscapes, he gathered painting professionals and community artists into a friendly organization which came to be known as the Art Society of Old Greenwich. Membership is Open to All Artists Working in any Medium Their objectives remain today, enabling professional and amateur artists equal opportunity to show in the same gallery. Membership is open to all artists at $40 a calendar year. Members receive bulletins for each of the juried shows, as well as notices of several free lecture/demos per year. Shows take place in five different Greenwich galleries. Show Entries Judged by Respected Regional Artists Best of all, the Art Society of Old Greenwich takes no commission on sales. Cash Prizes are awarded at most events judged or juried by respected, prominent artists. Past jurors include Serge Hollerbach, (NA, AWS), Irving Greenberg (AWS), Daniel Green (NA), Morton Kaish (NA) Harvey Dinnerstein (NA), George Segalman, Burton Silverman (NA), Ray Kinstler (NA,AWS) and the late Charles Sovak.
